Mon, Jan 2 at 4:45 PM Hello Flyer Fans!
As you may have already heard, 2023 is the 115th Anniversary of the Flyer victory in Paris. The City of Buffalo is going to be celebrating Thomas Flyer Week July 24-30, 2023 with the Flyer, Buffalo's only World Champion! The Buffalo Transportation Pierce-Arrow Museum will be the center of activity, with THE 1907 Thomas Flyer on exhibit May - July 2023.
A full range of activities are planned*, with arrival on Monday July 24 and welcoming reception. Featured driving tours begin on Tuesday thru Friday (not to exceed 120 miles per day). Thomas automobiles will lead all tours, and given special preference at venues.
Thursday July 27th the Concord Historical Society is planning to host a Springville Thomas Day with many of these existing Thomas Flyers driving to Springville for a ceremony at George Schuster's gravesite in Maplewood Cemetery, a catered luncheon at the Springville Fire Hall, a driving tour of our village with stops at Schuster's former home on East Ave and a visit at the Historical Society NY to Paris exhibit in the Heritage Bldg on Franklin St.
This luncheon would be open to Springville residents and car enthusiasts in general to see these 115 year old automobiles and mingle with their owners. More details on this will be shared as the menu, costs and other details are finalized.
Friday evening will be the Reunion Event at the Hofbrauhaus Buffalo with special meaning for those who traveled from NYC to Paris in 2011, and NY to San Francisco in 2018. The evening will be capped off with fireworks, and everyone is invited to attend!
Saturday is Re-Certification Day! Thomas Owners may opt to see if their automobiles can meet the same performance standards that George Schuster certified, when they came out of production prior to delivery. This event will be at the original Thomas Factory location on 1200 Niagara Street in Buffalo.
Sunday July 30 is Museum Day, with a wide range of special events celebrating the exact day (115 years later) America gained victory as the Flyer rolled into Paris.
Join us for this "Once in a Lifetime" international gathering of remaining Thomas automobiles from as far as Australia. Thomas owners will have the opportunity for a "Kodak Moment" with their automobile next to the Flyer.
Thomas owners may have their vehicles arrive as early as May, and exhibited by the Museum through July. We will keep you up-to date with more details in early 2023, so save the dates July 24-30, 2023!
